Microchipping:
A door is left ajar as the kids run to the bus stop, your puppy sneaks out of site while on a potty break, or a natural disaster creates turmoil leaving a dog behind without realizing it: the scenarios go on and on. Without identification, most pets never return home. Micochipping is one of the most valuable services we perform for our new puppies. This small chip reassures us that if your puppy is lost or stolen there is a good change he or she will be returned. During week 8 of the observation period, we implant a very small chip about half the size of a grain of rice between the shoulder blades. This is done via an injection. Once properly in place, we scan the puppy for identification and record the data. We use HomeAgain as our recovery agency. What is HomeAgain and how does the program work? HomeAgain is an advanced lost pet recovery service dedicated to the safety and well-being of your pet. Our system is best utilized when a microchip with a unique ID number is injected between the shoulder blades of your pet, which can be done by a veterinarian if your pet is not already microchipped.
Once your pet is microchipped, the next step is to enroll your pet's microchip ID, description, and photo, along with your contact information, in the HomeAgain National Pet Recovery Database, which is critical to reuniting you immediately with your lost pet once he is found. Once enrolled, your pet is entitled to all the additional benefits of the HomeAgain annual members
hip, including:
Unlimited updates to your contact information online or by phone
24/7 access to our Lost Pet Specialists
Rapid Lost Pet Alerts and Lost Pet Posters
Medical Insurance for Lost Dogs or Cats from PetFirst Healthcare
24/7 access to the Pet Medical Emergency Hotline
Transporting your new puppy:
Our preference is personal pick up by the new owner; however, we know that is not always possible. Due to this need, we try very
hard to keep shipping costs down and any savings afforded to us will be passed on directly to our buyer.
In most cases, I personally travel with the puppy, but sometimes it is necessary for my assistant to travel as the attendant. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to go this route, so we explore all possibilities prior to shipment. This mode of shipping requires a round trip passenger ticket and a pet fee. We can travel in cabin on the airline of your choice.
We have also had excellent results shipping as cargo with Continental Airlines when transporting in cabin is not in the budget. We have never had a puppy arrive with an adverse reaction to the flight. Houston is the only Hub with a full service pet assistance area where a vet along with groomers and techs are on staff to see to the puppies needs prior to the flight.
Generally, shipping as cargo in a pressurized cabin will cost around $300.00 within the continental USA as of February 11, 2009. However, bear in mind that cost are subject to change at any time due to many factors beyond our control. Our transport fee includes a health certificate, a travel crate, and flight fee. At this time, we do not include a travel surcharge unless we must commute to Houston for your puppy's flight. When travel to Houston is necessary, we include an additional $100.00. To date, it has not been necessary for any of our puppies to fly from Houston as we have a Continental connection in Beaumont.
Years of experience and a dedication to never compromise a puppy's well being, have led us to establish strict policies with regards to shipping a puppy.
1. Puppies cannot be shipped prior to 15 weeks.
2. Several factors may influence when your puppy is shipped including weight, temperament, fear imprint stage, health concerns, weather, and distance. We reserve the right to delay shipment at any time. All vaccinations and micro chipping must be complete prior to shipping.
3. Shipping fees and full payment for puppy must be paid in full 10 days prior to travel.
4. We only ship with Continental Airlines at present. We can discuss alternatives; however, we reserve the right to refuse any other carrier or shipping method.
5. Puppies must be picked up immediately upon arrival to destination airport. If parties are not waiting to pick up, the airline is instructed to return the puppy on the next flight.
