New Puppy Application
We are very focused on matching our kiddos with potential owners. Successful placement is due, in part, to our adoption application process. This process helps us determine that all puppies and foundation stock are placed in appropriate, responsible, and permanent homes.
A few of the things we do for You:
- Guarantee against genetic defects for the lifetime of your dog.
- Provide a lifelong safety net for your puppy.
- Insure every puppy is fully vaccinated prior to placement.
- Socialize and begin training early to reduce separation anxiety.
- Require Spay / Neuter for every puppy produced (excludes foundation stock).
- Micro-chipping all puppies at the time of adoption.
Adoption Process
- Complete the Adoption Questionnaire below.
- I will contact you personally to clarify any questions and to notify you of your application status.
- If possible, schedule a special time for you to visit our kennel in person. If distance is an obstacle, but you have family / friends in our area, we welcome their visit as your agent. If a personal visit is simply out of the question, we will make arrangements for you to get to know us better.
- When approved, applicants may choose a puppy currently available or be placed on our waiting list, sign the adoption contract, and pay a deposit.
- Follow-up calls and emails will include information to ensure success of the relationship such as puppy care guides, receipts of payments made toward the puppy and to provide early intervention and assistance for any difficulties that may arise once the puppy is placed.
- Prepare the pick up / shipping options best for you. Bear in mind, if we arrange shipping, we only use Continental Airlines Pet Care Service.
Why we ask so many questions:
We are continually shocked by the number of dogs surrendered to the local shelters by their owners. The general reasons given to the shelters are now a part of our application. We want you to adopt an animal from us, but we want you to be aware what you're getting into. The questionnaire allows us to get to know you better so that we may focus on helping you select a puppy that fits your lifestyle. Every puppy is as unique as every buyer we interview. We spend countless hours observing every puppy we produce, giving us the ability to provide potential buyers with real information on each puppy.
Here’s how our questions reduce the unwanted animal population:
38% of the animals were turned in because they were lost. That is why every puppy we sell is micro-chipped prior to placement.
16% of the animals were turned in by people who were moving, many simply to another apartment where pets are not allowed. That is why we ask what your living arrangements are and unequivocally promise to take back any puppy whose families’ situation has changed (no questions asked).
13% of the animals were turned in by people who had no time or no room for them. That is why we ask how many hours a day the animal will be left alone, how the dog will be housed, and who will be the primary care giver.
9% of the animals were turned in by people who could not afford to keep them. That is why we discuss the financial aspect of ownership. We are really not trying to pry into your personal business; however, our puppies are very personal to us.
Please fill out the New Puppy Application below. We will be emailed your information and will respond to you as soon as possible. If you submit a question or comment and do not have a response within 24 hours, please contact us directly at kirista@southeasttexasyorkies.com, as we occasionally have technical difficulties.
